JUST: It is true that freedom of speech and expression is one of the dividends of Democracy. But many events in the Nigerian political terrain have proved that freedom of speech and movement is not a right to insult and trespass.
The news filtering to Ohafia-TV has confirmed that Comrade Iroegbu Emenike of Abia Facts Newspapers (An Online Media Outfit) who was arrested by men of the DSS in Uyo, Akwaibom State, and was subsequently transfer and detained in Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State has been released.
Recall that officers of the Department of State Security Service (DSSS) yesterday stormed the home of the Abia born Media Practitioner in Akwa Ibom State where he is based, ransacked his house and took his phones and laptop before taking him into their car and subsequently to their station where he was briefly detained before being taken to the Abia State capital.
Whatever the reason behind the arrest was, it is pertinent for news bloggers to beware of their reportage as some publications may lead to invitation for explanation.
Ohafia-TV’s effort to contact Comrade Iroegbu Emenike to corroborate the news of his release as well as getting the first hand information as to the reason for his arrest proved abortive as our phone call was never picked up after many attempts.
