Police confirm attack on Borno officials by Boko Haram, reveal number of casualties

The Police in Borno on Saturday confirmed the death of eight personnel and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force in an attack on the convoy of officials of Borno State Government. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Edet Okon, who disclosed this in a statement released in Maiduguri, also said 13 others were injured. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the officials, who are members of the IDP Resettlement Committee, were on the way to Baga town when they were attacked. Boko Haram: Attack on my convoy by terrorists unfortunate – Governor Zulum

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has described the attack on his convoy on Friday as most unfortunate. He, however, said it would not deter his plan to ensure all Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, return to their homes after a long stay in the camps in order to resume their activities as free and not restricted people. Boko Haram: Atiku condemns attack on Borno Gov’s convoy

The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, in which several persons were feared dead and others injured. According to DailyPost reports sighted by OHAFIA-TV News, twelve policemen, 13 civilians and five soldiers were confirmed dead from the attack.
