In the culture of typical Ohafia Clan, Self-Help is an underlying principle that has set the communities apart from many communities in Abia State, especially on the aspects of ensuring development and progress of the communities in terms of education, infrastructure, agriculture and economic emancipation. This deep rooted culture of advancement for civilization has formed the integral part of the people, this period of COVID-19 has proved not to be an exception.
The outbreak of Coronavirus around the Globe has tested the resolves of humanity and xrayed many facts hitherto hidden from mankind. But in all, we celebrate life of grace of God.
Challenged by the reality of lockdown in many states that has made it impossible for people to make ends meet, the leadership of Okon-Aku Development Union, ODU, under the care of Dr Umeh Kalu Nmecha, reactivated the principle of self-help to mobilize the community sons and daughters to exercise the civic duty of thinking and investing for everyone as a community.
This was in effort to augment what individuals from the community had done to compliment the government palliative. To them, now is time to ensure that the people are supported as long as the global challenge persists.
